Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing School-Based Position Near Avenue of Oaks, SC
Blazer Jobs is actively interviewing experienced Teachers of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) for a full-time, onsite position with school districts near the Avenue of Oaks, SC area. This role is ideal for professionals skilled in supporting students with hearing impairments across K–12 settings and collaborating with school teams to ensure accessible, inclusive learning environments.
Position Details:
Start Date: ASAP
Schedule: Full-Time (37.5 hours per week), Monday–Friday
Setting: Onsite Only
Pay Rate: TBD (Based on Experience)
Caseload: K–12 students
Key Responsibilities:
Provide direct and consultative DHH services to students across general and special education settings
Adapt instructional materials and curriculum to support auditory access, language development, and communication needs
Collaborate with teachers, related service providers, audiologists, and families to ensure consistency of accommodations and instructional strategies
Participate in IEP meetings, complete required documentation, and help develop appropriate goals
Support students using assistive listening devices, including troubleshooting and monitoring equipment
Deliver staff training on communication strategies, auditory supports, and DHH best practices
Promote student self-advocacy, communication skills, and independence within the school environment
Requirements:
Active South Carolina DHH Certification/Licensure
Previous school-based experience required
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree related to Deaf Education or Hearing Impairment
Strong understanding of auditory development, language acquisition, and school-based service delivery
Proficiency with assistive listening technology and accommodations
Must pass all required state and district background checks prior to start date
