Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in Bethlehem, PA
A specialized teaching opportunity is available for licensed Teachers of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing to provide educational support during the Extended School Year (ESY) in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. Locations of assignment include Bucks County IU 22’s service area with specific placements in Lower and Central Bucks, with hours ranging from 12 to 24 per week depending on site needs. Instructional dates run from June 29 through July 30, 2026, primarily Monday through Thursday, with student engagement scheduled 9:00 AM to 2:30 PM. Center-based and itinerant schedules will vary accordingly. Candidates must live within 35 minutes of their assigned location and have reliable transportation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized instruction and support to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing during the ESY program
- Work collaboratively with educational staff, families, and related service providers to meet student goals
- Manage itinerant or center-based assignments according to student caseloads and grade-level requirements
- Participate in orientation and preparation sessions prior to the ESY start
- Adhere to all policies and procedures regarding student safety and educational standards
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Current Pennsylvania Department of Education Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing certification
- Ability to work full ESY schedule and flexible work hours as assigned
- Experience with populations exhibiting moderate to severe needs, including behavior management
- Reliable transportation with residence within a 35-minute commute to site
- Candidates who have provided services through another agency with this client within the past year are not eligible
