Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher - Aberdeen, ID
A K-12 educational setting is seeking a qualified Teacher specializing in Deaf and Hard of Hearing students to provide exceptional support throughout the academic year on a contract basis. This role offers an opportunity to deliver specialized instruction and services tailored to the unique communication and learning needs of students who are deaf or hard of hearing, promoting their academic progress and social development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) for students with varying degrees of hearing loss
- Utilize specialized teaching strategies and assistive technologies to facilitate effective communication and learning
- Collaborate with speech-language pathologists, audiologists, and other educational professionals to support student success
- Monitor student progress, assess needs, and adjust instructional approaches accordingly
- Provide guidance and training to classroom staff and families regarding communication methods and assistive devices
- Maintain accurate records, documentation, and compliance with education regulations and best practices
Qualifications and Experience:
- Certification or licensure specific to teaching Deaf and Hard of Hearing students
- Experience working with K-12 students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Strong knowledge of communication options, including sign language and auditory-verbal methods
- Effective interdisciplinary collaboration and communication skills
- Ability to adapt instructional techniques to diverse student needs
- Commitment to ongoing professional development in special education and audiologic habilitation
