We are seeking a qualified and dedicated Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHHT) to serve students in the Sarasota, FL Metropolitan Area schools. Position Overview:
We are seeking a qualified and dedicated Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHHT) to serve students in the Sarasota, FL Metropolitan Area schools. The DHHT will provide direct and consultative services to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, collaborating with educators, families, and specialists to promote student success and ensure access to the general education curriculum.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction to students with hearing impairments in inclusive, resource, or self-contained environments
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) that address students’ communication, academic, and social-emotional goals
- Adapt instructional strategies and materials to meet diverse learning needs
- Collaborate with general education teachers, speech-language pathologists, audiologists, and other school staff
- Provide professional development and training to school personnel on effective communication strategies and assistive technology
- Monitor and document student progress in compliance with district and federal regulations
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Deaf Education or a related field
- Valid Florida teaching certification in Hearing Impairments or eligibility for certification
- Experience working with K–12 students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Familiarity with assistive technologies such as FM systems and amplification devices
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) preferred
- Strong collaboration, communication, and organizational skills
Compensation and Benefits:
- Hourly Pay: $30–$35/hour (based on experience and credentials)
