Position Overview
The Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing provides specialized instruction and support to students with hearing loss, ensuring access to the curriculum while promoting language development, social-emotional growth, and academic achievement.
Key Responsibilities

Provide individualized and small-group instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing

Support language and communication development using appropriate modalities aligned with each student’s IEP
-
Collaborate with general education teachers to ensure classroom accessibility and appropriate accommodations
-
Develop, implement, and monitor IEP goals and progress
-
Consult on the use of hearing assistive technology and classroom accommodations
-
Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with special education regulations
-
Partner with families, administrators, and multidisciplinary teams to support student success
Requirements
Applicants must meet all local and state requirements, including:

Active Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) certification in Special Education

PDE endorsement or certification in Deaf and Hard of Hearing
-
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Deaf Education, Special Education, or a related field
-
Knowledge of Pennsylvania special education regulations and IEP development
-
School-based experience with students who are deaf or hard of hearing preferred
-
Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
-
Ability to pass all required background checks and clearances
