Travel DHH Teacher Opportunity – Charleston SC
Contract Dates: August 27, 2025 – May 29, 2026 (Full School Year)
Student Caseload: K-12
Compensation: Equivalent to $55/hour, including hourly pay + travel & relocation stipends

Key Responsibilities:

Provide direct instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, using appropriate communication methods such as American Sign Language (ASL), spoken language, or cued speech.

Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to each student’s needs.

Collaborate with general education teachers, speech-language pathologists, and other professionals to support students’ academic and social development.

Adapt curriculum and instructional strategies to meet the unique learning needs of DHH students.

Utilize assistive technology and accommodations, such as FM systems, captioning, and visual supports, to enhance student learning.

Conduct assessments to monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly.

Provide guidance and resources to families to support their child’s education and communication needs.

Advocate for students’ needs within the school setting and ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.
Must Haves:
-
Bachelor’s degree in Deaf Education or related field

Willing to obtain Teaching Certification in Deaf Education in the required state

Pass the Praxis exam for "Education of Deaf and Hard of Hearing Students."

Sign Language: You may need to complete some American Sign Language (ASL) coursework and show basic proficiency in ASL.
