Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Needed in Chesapeake, VA

Position: Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH)
Location: Chesapeake, VA
Caseload: K-12 Students
Schedule: Full-Time, Onsite
School Year: 2025-2026

We are seeking a qualified and dedicated Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) to join a supportive school district in Chesapeake, Virginia for the 2025-2026 school year. This is a full-time, onsite position working with a diverse K-12 caseload, supporting students with hearing impairments to reach their academic and communication goals.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide direct instruction to students with hearing impairments in various educational settings

• Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families to implement accommodations and modifications

• Develop and deliver Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) tailored to each student’s needs

• Use and instruct in the use of assistive hearing technology and equipment

• Monitor student progress and maintain accurate, up-to-date documentation

• Serve as a resource and advocate for students with hearing impairments within the school community

• Promote inclusive education and effective communication strategies for students and staff

Requirements:

• Bachelor's or Master’s Degree in Deaf Education or related field

• Valid Virginia teaching license with endorsement in Deaf and Hard of Hearing or eligibility to obtain

• Prior experience working in a school setting preferred

• Strong communication and collaboration skills

• Familiarity with sign language and hearing assistive technology
