Position: Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH)

We are seeking a qualified and dedicated Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) to join a supportive school district in Chesapeake, Virginia for the 2025-2026 school year. This is a full-time, onsite position working with a diverse K-12 caseload, supporting students with hearing impairments to reach their academic and communication goals.
Key Responsibilities:

Provide direct instruction to students with hearing impairments in various educational settings

Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families to implement accommodations and modifications

Develop and deliver Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) tailored to each student’s needs
-
Use and instruct in the use of assistive hearing technology and equipment

Monitor student progress and maintain accurate, up-to-date documentation
-
Serve as a resource and advocate for students with hearing impairments within the school community

Promote inclusive education and effective communication strategies for students and staff
Requirements:

Bachelor's or Master’s Degree in Deaf Education or related field

Valid Virginia teaching license with endorsement in Deaf and Hard of Hearing or eligibility to obtain

Prior experience working in a school setting preferred

Strong communication and collaboration skills

Familiarity with sign language and hearing assistive technology
