An opportunity is available for an experienced Teacher specializing in Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) education to support elementary-aged students in the Virginia Beach area. This full-time contract position, running from January 5, 2026, through June 16, 2026, provides specialized instruction to a caseload of eight students in kindergarten through fifth grade, all located within the district center.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized educational services to students who are deaf or hard of hearing in accordance with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
- Employ effective teaching strategies tailored to the unique communication and learning needs of DHH students.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to support student progress and inclusion.
- Monitor and document student performance, providing regular updates to parents and staff.
- Maintain compliance with all applicable regulations and district policies related to DHH education.
Qualifications:
- Active Virginia Department of Education certification in teaching students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing; provisional certification will be accepted.
- Experience working with elementary school students (K-5), preferably within a classroom or resource setting.
