VocoVision connects specialized educators with virtual teaching opportunities nationwide! We're currently seeking an experienced Deaf and Hard of Hearing teacher to serve Ohio students through our remote learning platform, this position allows you to use your expertise in deaf education while enjoying the flexibility of working from home.

You'll support a caseload of 45 students across grades K-8, working 35 hours per week providing specialized DHH instruction and consultation services; Students on your caseload will have varying degrees of hearing loss and use different communication approaches based on their individual needs and backgrounds. The virtual format provides unique opportunities for incorporating visual supports, captioning, and digital resources that enhance accessibility!!

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES include developing and delivering specialized instruction in listening skills, language development (both receptive and expressive), speech production, and pragmatic communication... Academic tutoring in math, reading, writing and content areas helps students keep pace with grade-level expectations. You'll create engaging lessons that accommodate visual learning preferences and incorporate students' hearing technology into instructional activities!

Consultation services form a significant part of this role - work with general education teachers to implement classroom accommodations such as preferential seating, visual aids, reduced auditory distractions, and instructional modifications. Provide guidance on effective communication strategies and deaf culture awareness. Monitor classroom environments to ensure acoustic conditions support students' access to instruction.

Student progress monitoring involves regular assessment of language skills, auditory development, academic achievement, and social-emotional functioning; data guides instructional planning and IEP goal development. Family collaboration keeps parents informed and involved - share progress updates, demonstrate language facilitation techniques, discuss hearing technology management, and coordinate with audiologists and other service providers as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED: Active Ohio teaching license in Deaf and Hard of Hearing education // Master's degree in Deaf Education or Communication Disorders // Two years minimum experience working with DHH students in schools // Understanding of hearing loss, amplification technology, and auditory development // Familiarity with multiple communication methodologies // Technology skills for remote teaching // Ability to build relationships and trust with students virtually
