You'll work collaboratively with families, audiologists, and educational teams to ensure each student receives appropriate accommodations and support services. Our program emphasizes individualized approaches that respect diverse communication preferences and cultural backgrounds within the deaf and hard of hearing community.

Teaching Responsibilities

Central to your role is the development and implementation of specialized IEPs that address both academic goals and communication development for students with hearing impairments. You'll design creative virtual lessons that maximize visual learning opportunities while incorporating appropriate assistive technologies based on individual student needs.

Building strong relationships with students and families becomes essential as you provide regular communication about progress and collaborate on educational strategies. You'll facilitate virtual IEP meetings, conduct parent conferences, and coordinate with related service providers to ensure comprehensive support for each student's unique needs.

Ongoing assessment and progress monitoring focus on both academic achievement and communication skill development. You'll track student growth using specialized assessment tools, adjust instructional approaches based on hearing levels and communication preferences, and maintain detailed documentation of student progress.

Fluency in American Sign Language and knowledge of various communication modalities used by DHH students are required. Understanding of deaf culture, assistive hearing technologies, and visual learning strategies will enhance your effectiveness in this virtual environment.

While previous remote teaching experience is beneficial, we welcome DHH educators who are eager to adapt their skills to virtual platforms. Strong computer skills and creativity in using technology to deliver visual instruction will support your success in remote DHH education.

You'll receive comprehensive training on virtual platforms and ongoing professional development in remote deaf education techniques.

Regular collaboration with colleagues through video conferences and digital meeting spaces helps maintain professional connections and share best practices specific to virtual DHH instruction. Our technical support team understands the unique technology needs of DHH students and provides specialized assistance.
