DHH Teacher - Virtual Position Serving Students in Columbus, OH

VocoVision is seeking a certified Deaf and Hard of Hearing teacher to provide remote educational services to students across Ohio. Our virtual platform enables you to deliver specialized instruction in language development, auditory skills, and academic content while working from your home. This position offers the opportunity to impact students' lives through innovative distance learning approaches!

This full-time remote role serves approximately 40-50 students ranging from elementary through middle school. You'll work 37.5 hours weekly providing direct instruction, consultation services, and support to students who are deaf or hard of hearing. Your students may use various communication modalities including listening and spoken language, sign language, or combined approaches depending on individual needs and family preferences.

What the Role Involves:

You'll deliver specialized instruction targeting language development, auditory skill building, speech reading, and self-advocacy skills through virtual sessions. Academic support in content areas ensures students can access grade-level curriculum successfully. Individual and small group sessions allow you to differentiate instruction based on each student's unique learning profile, hearing technology, and communication preferences!

Collaboration with general education teachers is essential - you'll consult on classroom accommodations, acoustic modifications, and instructional strategies that support deaf and hard of hearing students in inclusive settings. Assistive technology consultation helps ensure students' hearing aids, cochlear implants, FM systems, or other devices are functioning optimally in the learning environment.

Parent partnership is critical to student success... you'll communicate regularly with families about progress, provide coaching on language facilitation strategies, and support them in navigating educational and audiological decisions. IEP development and progress monitoring keep students on track toward their communication and academic goals. Documentation of services, progress notes, and evaluation reports round out your responsibilities.

Required Qualifications:

  • Active Ohio Deaf and Hard of Hearing teaching license
  • Master's degree in Deaf Education or related field
  • Minimum 2 years of school-based experience working with DHH students
  • Knowledge of auditory development, language acquisition, and hearing technology
  • Experience with various communication methodologies (listening/spoken language, sign language, total communication)
  • Proficiency with virtual teaching platforms and digital instructional materials
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills for working with educational teams and families
