Soliant connects qualified Deaf and Hard of Hearing teachers with virtual opportunities throughout New Hampshire! These positions allow you to provide specialized instruction to students with hearing loss while working remotely.

Typical positions serve caseloads of 40-50 students spanning kindergarten through high school grades. Weekly hours average 37.5, divided among direct instruction, IEP meetings, consultation, planning, and documentation. You'll focus on developing language and literacy skills, teaching compensatory strategies, supporting academic achievement, facilitating social-emotional development, and ensuring communication access across educational environments.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Design individualized education programs for students with hearing loss
  • Provide specialized instruction in reading, writing, and language development
  • Teach students to use and maintain assistive listening devices
  • Consult with classroom teachers about deaf education best practices
  • Collaborate with related service providers including SLPs and audiologists
  • Support families in navigating deaf education and communication decisions
  • Assess student progress using tools appropriate for deaf/hard of hearing learners
  • Monitor and report on auditory technology functionality
  • Adapt curriculum and materials for optimal access
  • Maintain comprehensive records and compliance documentation
  • Participate in professional development in deaf education

REQUIRED CREDENTIALS: Valid New Hampshire Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing license (absolute requirement). Master's degree in Deaf Education, Special Education with DHH concentration, or closely related field (required). Two years minimum of teaching experience with deaf and hard of hearing students in K-12 settings (mandatory). Strong understanding of language development in children with hearing loss essential. Knowledge of assistive technologies including hearing aids, cochlear implants, and FM systems important. Communication skills appropriate to student needs—sign language proficiency may be required depending on student population. Experience delivering instruction through virtual platforms necessary. Appropriate home technology and private teaching space required.
