Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (TDHH) – Full-Time – Cumberland, ME
Sunbelt Staffing is currently hiring a dedicated and compassionate Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (TDHH) for a full-time position in a supportive school district located in Cumberland, Maine. This role offers a meaningful opportunity to enhance learning and communication access for students who are deaf or hard of hearing in an inclusive academic setting.
Responsibilities:

Provide specialized instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, using appropriate communication modes including ASL, spoken language, or total communication

Collaborate with general and special education staff to support access to curriculum and classroom instruction

Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to each student’s needs
-
Monitor student progress and adjust instruction based on assessment data
-
Serve as a resource for staff and families, providing strategies to support student development and inclusion
-
Promote self-advocacy, communication, and independence among students
Qualifications:

Valid Maine teaching certification with appropriate endorsement for Deaf/Hard of Hearing

Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and familiarity with a range of communication approaches

Experience working in educational settings with D/HH students preferred

Strong collaboration, communication, and instructional skills

Ability to develop individualized educational strategies aligned with student goals
