An opportunity is available for an experienced Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing to provide specialized support for a student in an elementary school setting in the Atlanta area. This leave contract position involves working closely with a single student to deliver tailored educational strategies that address their unique learning needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide daily instruction and support during a focused 90-minute time slot from 10:20 am to 11:50 am, Monday through Friday.
- Utilize American Sign Language (ASL) fluently to communicate effectively with the student.
- Develop and implement individualized educational plans in alignment with best practices for deaf and hard of hearing learners.
- Collaborate with school staff and families to ensure consistent progress and address any challenges.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance and engagement.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Active Georgia Department of Education certification in teaching deaf or hard of hearing students.
- Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) is required.
- Experience working with elementary-aged children in educational settings is preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interface with students, families, and educators.
- Flexibility and reliability for a strict schedule from 10:20 am to 11:50 am EST, Monday through Friday.
Schedule and Location:
- Contract duration: March 17, 2026, to May 22, 2026.
- Hours per week: Approximately 7.5 to 10 hours.
- Location: Elementary school in the Atlanta, GA area.
