Join our innovative team of educators who are transforming DHH education through cutting-edge virtual learning platforms! We're seeking a passionate Deaf and Hard of Hearing teacher to provide specialized instruction to students with hearing impairments through our comprehensive remote learning system. This position offers the unique opportunity to reach students across diverse educational settings while maintaining the personal connections essential to effective DHH education.

Position Overview

This remote DHH teaching role combines the flexibility of working from home with the meaningful impact of serving students with hearing impairments. You'll deliver individualized instruction through our state-of-the-art virtual platform, utilizing visual learning strategies and assistive technologies to ensure every student receives appropriate educational support.

Our program emphasizes building strong relationships with students and families while providing high-quality educational services that promote both academic achievement and communication development. You'll become part of a collaborative network of professionals dedicated to advancing DHH education through innovative approaches.

Core Responsibilities

Your primary focus involves developing and implementing individualized education programs specifically designed for students with hearing impairments. You'll create engaging virtual lessons that maximize visual learning opportunities while incorporating appropriate assistive technologies and communication methods based on each student's individual needs and preferences.

Regular communication with families forms a cornerstone of your practice as you collaborate on educational strategies and provide updates on student progress. You'll conduct virtual IEP meetings, facilitate parent conferences, and work closely with audiologists, speech therapists, and other related service providers to ensure comprehensive student support.

Assessment and progress monitoring require specialized attention as you track both academic achievement and communication development. You'll maintain detailed documentation of student performance, complete required evaluations, and adapt instructional approaches based on individual hearing levels and communication preferences.

Required Qualifications

Successful candidates must possess an active Michigan Deaf and Hard of Hearing teaching license along with a Master's degree in Deaf Education or related field from an accredited institution. We require a minimum of two years of classroom teaching experience working specifically with students who have hearing impairments.

Proficiency in American Sign Language and understanding of various communication modalities used by DHH students are essential. Experience with assistive hearing technologies, visual learning strategies, and deaf culture awareness will contribute significantly to your success in this remote environment.

Strong technology skills are important for delivering effective virtual instruction, though comprehensive training on our specific platforms will be provided. You should demonstrate creativity and flexibility in adapting traditional DHH teaching methods for digital delivery while maintaining student engagement and learning outcomes.

Professional Environment

This fully remote position allows you to teach from your home office while accessing extensive support systems and specialized resources for DHH education. You'll receive ongoing professional development opportunities focused on virtual instruction techniques and emerging technologies in deaf education.

Our collaborative team environment includes regular video conferences with colleagues, peer support groups, and professional learning communities that help maintain connections and share innovative strategies. Mentorship opportunities connect you with experienced virtual DHH educators who provide guidance and support.

You'll have access to specialized software, visual learning resources, and assistive technology tools designed specifically for remote DHH instruction. Technical support ensures reliable access to all platforms while accommodating the unique technological needs of students with hearing impairments.
