DHH Teacher - Detroit, Michigan Virtual Education Position
VocoVision specializes in connecting certified Deaf and Hard of Hearing teachers with students across Michigan through our innovative remote platform. We're expanding our team with passionate educators who understand the unique communication and learning needs of D/HH students and can deliver exceptional instruction in a virtual environment.
This full-time remote position serves 40-50 students in grades K-12, working 36 hours weekly to provide specialized instruction that addresses both academic content and language development. You'll create engaging virtual lessons that incorporate visual strategies, appropriate accommodations, and communication methods tailored to each student's Individual Education Program, helping them achieve their full academic potential while developing critical communication skills.
Your Role Will Include
Delivering direct instruction in academic subjects with D/HH accommodations... Developing and implementing IEPs focused on communication and academic goals... Providing language support and deaf education services... Adapting curriculum materials for accessibility... Monitoring student progress through ongoing assessment... Collaborating with interpreters, audiologists, and support staff... Training general education teachers on D/HH student needs... Maintaining communication with families about student progress... Using assistive technology and visual supports effectively... Participating in eligibility meetings and IEP team discussions
Essential Qualifications
- Active Deaf and Hard of Hearing teaching license in Michigan
- Master's degree (required)
- Minimum 2 years of experience teaching D/HH students in school settings
- Fluency in communication methods appropriate for D/HH students
- Knowledge of deaf culture and best practices in deaf education
- Experience with virtual instruction or strong adaptability to online teaching
- Proficiency with technology platforms and digital teaching tools
- Strong organizational and time management skills
Remote Work Requirements
High-speed internet connection, professional home office space suitable for teaching, computer with quality webcam and microphone, and comfort using virtual learning platforms and educational software.
