A contract opportunity is available for experienced Teachers of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing to support Extended School Year (ESY) programs in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. These positions focus on delivering specialized instruction and related services to students with hearing impairments, ensuring their academic and social needs are met during the summer months.
Locations include Doylestown and various other sites across Lower and Central Bucks County, with classroom and itinerant assignments based on student needs and staff placement preferences. Candidates must reside within 35 minutes of their assigned site and have reliable transportation to ensure punctual attendance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized ESY instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing during June 29 to July 30, 2026
- Provide support either in center-based settings or itinerantly across multiple locations
- Collaborate with staff, families, and administrators to implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Manage instructional and related service hours based on site assignments, generally Monday through Thursday
- Participate in orientation and preparation activities prior to the ESY session
Qualifications and Experience:
- Active Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) certification for Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing
- Ability to work with students who have moderate to severe needs, including behavioral challenges
- Reliable transportation and residency within a 35-minute commute of assigned school site
- Availability to commit to the full ESY schedule and variable weekly hours (12-24 hours)
- Willingness to collaborate and adapt to changing classroom assignments based on enrollment and student needs
- Completion of required screening, licensure verification, and supervisor reference
