Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) – Elgin, IL

Compensation Packages
Local Candidates (Elgin area):

Hourly pay range: $50–$58/hr

Full-time, school-year schedule

Weekly pay provided through direct deposit
Travel Candidates (open to relocation for the assignment):

Equivalent take-home pay: $58–$70/hr

Weekly pay ranges: $1,668–$1,924

Pay structured with a lower taxable base rate plus tax-free housing and meal stipends

Travel coordination and relocation support available

Job Responsibilities

Deliver specialized instruction for students who are deaf or hard of hearing

Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to student needs

Collaborate with classroom teachers, interpreters, families, and other school staff

Use auditory/oral, sign language, and assistive technology strategies to support access to education

Track and report student progress to ensure compliance with IDEA and district policies
Requirements
-
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (or related field)
-
Active Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with endorsement in DHH (or eligibility)

Familiarity with IEP development and IDEA compliance
-
Strong collaboration and communication skills
-
Ability to pass background checks and meet district onboarding requirements
