Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) Teacher to join our team in Fort Smith, AR for the 2025-2026 school year. This full-time position offers a meaningful opportunity to support students who are deaf or hard of hearing in an inclusive, student-centered learning environment.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) to meet the unique communication and educational needs of students.

• Provide direct instruction in academic subjects and communication skills (including American Sign Language or other preferred modes).

• Collaborate with general education teachers, families, interpreters, and related service providers to promote student success.

• Conduct assessments to evaluate student progress and adapt instruction accordingly.

• Facilitate communication access and advocate for accommodations in both academic and social settings.

• Participate in IEP meetings and multidisciplinary team reviews.

• Stay current with best practices in deaf education and participate in professional development.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Deaf Education or related field.

• Valid Arkansas teaching license with Deaf and Hard of Hearing endorsement (or eligibility for licensure).

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) or other communication methods used by DHH students preferred.

• Previous experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing is preferred.

• Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.

• A collaborative, empathetic approach and a passion for supporting diverse learners.
