This full-time position seeks an experienced Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing to support students in a K-12 school setting located in Gretna, LA. The role is a contract assignment for the current school year, starting as soon as possible with a scheduled end date of May 22, 2026.
The ideal candidate will hold an active Louisiana Department of Education certification and have a passion for working with deaf or hard of hearing students across various grade levels. Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, ensuring alignment with state standards and individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Assess student progress and modify teaching methods accordingly
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including speech therapists and audiologists, to support student development
- Maintain accurate records and participate in parent-teacher conferences
- Facilitate a nurturing and inclusive learning environment that promotes student engagement and academic success
Qualifications:
- Active Louisiana DOE certification in Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
- Experience working with K-12 students with hearing impairments
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage a caseload and coordinate with school staff
- Commitment to student-centered instruction and ongoing professional development
Work Schedule and Location:
- Full-time, 35 hours per week (7 hours per day plus 30-minute unpaid lunch)
- Monday through Friday in accordance with the school calendar
- Located in Gretna, LA, serving students within a K-12 setting
