This full-time, on-site opportunity in the Virginia Beach area offers a unique role supporting elementary students from kindergarten through fifth grade who are deaf or hard of hearing. Working within a dedicated district center, you will serve a focused caseload of eight students, providing specialized educational support tailored to their communication and learning needs. The contract position runs from December 1, 2025, through June 16, 2026, encompassing the current school year.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) for students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
  • Deliver direct instruction and support to K-5 students to enhance academic progress and social development.
  • Collaborate closely with families, classroom teachers, and related service providers to ensure integrated support.
  • Monitor student progress and adjust teaching strategies to meet individual learning goals.
  • Maintain accurate records and participate in relevant meetings and training sessions.

Qualifications:

  • Active Virginia Department of Education (VA DOE) certificate in teaching students who are deaf or hard of hearing; provisional certification accepted.
  • Experience working with elementary-aged children (K-5), preferably within a focused caseload setting.
  • Strong communication skills with students, parents, and educational teams.
  • Commitment to on-site work for the full contract period (no remote or hybrid options).

Location and Schedule:

  • Position is based on-site at the district center in the Virginia Beach area.
  • Full-time schedule with 35 hours per week.
  • Contract duration: December 1, 2025 – June 16, 2026.
