Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing - Harvey, LA
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) to join our special education team in Harvey, LA. The ideal candidate will provide specialized instruction and support to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, helping them access the curriculum, build communication skills, and thrive academically and socially.
Key Responsibilities

Provide direct and consultative instructional services to students who are deaf or hard of hearing across grade levels.

Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in collaboration with parents, teachers, and support staff.

Adapt and modify curriculum, instructional strategies, and materials to meet student needs.

Collaborate with general education teachers and specialists to ensure accessibility and inclusion.

Provide training and guidance to staff and families on effective communication strategies and accommodations.

Maintain compliance with state and federal special education regulations.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Deaf Education, Special Education, or related field.

Valid Louisiana teaching certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing (or eligibility to obtain).

Knowledge of various communication modalities (ASL, spoken language, auditory-oral approaches, etc.).

Strong collaboration, communication, and organizational skills.

Experience working with students with hearing loss preferred.
