DHH Teacher | Metairie, Louisiana
A full-time teaching opportunity is available for a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing to serve K-12 students within a Louisiana public school setting. This contract role runs through the current school year, beginning as soon as possible and concluding in late May 2026. The position entails approximately 35 hours per week, Monday through Friday, aligning with the academic calendar and including a 30-minute unpaid lunch break.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide specialized instruction and support tailored to students who are deaf or hard of hearing across K-12 grade levels.
- Collaborate with educators, support staff, and families to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs).
- Utilize appropriate educational strategies and assistive technologies to promote student engagement and academic success.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and participate in ongoing professional development.
Qualifications:
- Active Louisiana Department of Education certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing is required.
- Current clearance through district-mandated drug screening and fingerprinting processes.
- Experience working with deaf or hard-of-hearing students in a K-12 school environment is preferred.
- Ability to start immediately without a pending certification/license process.
Location: Metairie, LA (serving students within the Jefferson Parish School District).
