Virtual DHH Educator | Kalamazoo, Michigan School Programs
VocoVision is seeking Michigan-certified Deaf and Hard of Hearing teachers for remote educational positions across the state. These virtual roles offer the flexibility of working from home while making meaningful connections with DHH students who need specialized instruction!
Typical positions involve 35-37.5 hour work weeks supporting 15-22 students spanning elementary, middle, and high school grade bands. Teachers deliver individualized and small group instruction focusing on language acquisition, literacy development, listening skills, speech production, and academic content access. You'll work with students using diverse communication methods: ASL, spoken language with hearing technology, cued speech, or simultaneous communication approaches.
Core Duties:
- Design and implement IEPs addressing unique learning needs of DHH students
- Teach specialized curriculum covering language, literacy, and auditory skill development
- Deliver live instruction through video conferencing with visual supports and captions
- Collaborate with educational interpreters, SLPs, and audiologists for comprehensive services
- Assess student progress regularly and modify teaching strategies for optimal outcomes
- Provide consultation to general education teachers on DHH accommodations and modifications
- Engage families as partners in their child's language and academic development
- Maintain thorough records of student performance and service delivery
What You Must Have: Active Michigan teaching certification with Deaf and Hard of Hearing endorsement (required) — Master's degree (required) — 2+ years teaching DHH students in K-12 settings (required) — Fluency in American Sign Language (required) — Knowledge of deaf culture, communication options, and hearing technology — Strong virtual teaching skills and comfort with educational technology — Excellent communication abilities for remote collaboration with families and teams.
