Teacher of the Deaf in Kenner, LA
This full-time Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing role supports students in the New Orleans, LA area, specifically within Jefferson Parish schools. The position runs on a contract basis from ASAP through May 22, 2026, with a Monday–Friday schedule aligned to the school calendar. Teachers will work approximately 35 hours per week, including seven hours per day plus a 30-minute unpaid lunch.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction tailored for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, specialists, and support staff to adapt curriculum and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Monitor student progress and communicate updates with parents and school teams
- Manage caseload assignments focusing on age groups to be determined by the district
- Adhere to district policies and contribute to a supportive learning environment
Qualifications:
- Active Louisiana Department of Education (DOE) teaching certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education required
- Successful completion of district-required background checks including drug screening and fingerprinting prior to placement
- Experience and comfort working with specialized populations in an educational setting
- Ability to adapt instruction to meet diverse learning needs
