An opportunity is available for an experienced educator specializing in Deaf and Hard of Hearing instruction within a K-12 school setting. This contract position, based in Kent, WA, offers a chance to work across the full K-12 continuum during the current school year (CSY).
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver specialized instructional programs tailored to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
- Assess student needs and create Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) in collaboration with families and multidisciplinary teams
- Utilize a variety of communication methods and educational technologies to support student learning
- Collaborate with general education teachers to promote inclusion and accessibility
- Monitor student progress and adjust teaching strategies accordingly
- Participate in professional development and stay informed about advances in deaf education
Desired Qualifications:
- Valid teaching certification with endorsement in Deaf and Hard of Hearing education
- Proven experience working with K-12 students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
- Strong knowledge of language development, auditory and visual teaching strategies, and relevant assistive technologies
- Ability to work effectively with students, families, and educational teams
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
