An opportunity is available for an experienced educator specializing in Deaf and Hard of Hearing instruction within a K-12 school setting. This contract position, based in Kent, WA, offers a chance to work across the full K-12 continuum during the current school year (CSY).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver specialized instructional programs tailored to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
  • Assess student needs and create Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) in collaboration with families and multidisciplinary teams
  • Utilize a variety of communication methods and educational technologies to support student learning
  • Collaborate with general education teachers to promote inclusion and accessibility
  • Monitor student progress and adjust teaching strategies accordingly
  • Participate in professional development and stay informed about advances in deaf education

Desired Qualifications:

  • Valid teaching certification with endorsement in Deaf and Hard of Hearing education
  • Proven experience working with K-12 students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
  • Strong knowledge of language development, auditory and visual teaching strategies, and relevant assistive technologies
  • Ability to work effectively with students, families, and educational teams
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
