Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher - Kent, WA
A full-semester contract opportunity is available for a Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing (DHH) to work within a K-12 school district in Kent, WA. This role focuses on providing itinerant services to elementary and secondary students, supporting a caseload of approximately 20-35 students. The position is currently offered at .6 FTE (three days per week) with some potential flexibility in scheduling. This on-site role requires strong communication and instructional skills to meet the unique needs of students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instructional services to DHH students across various grade levels
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) in collaboration with students, families, and school staff
- Travel to multiple school campuses to provide direct support and consultative services
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and service delivery
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and support personnel to enhance inclusive learning environments
Qualifications:
- Valid DHH teaching license and Educational Staff Associate (ESA) certification
- Experience working with a caseload of students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing in K-12 settings
- Ability to work independently and manage itinerant service schedules efficiently
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills for communication with diverse stakeholders
