Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher - Remote Position in Lansing, MI

About These Roles
Virtual DHH teachers typically work 35-37.5 hours weekly, serving caseloads of 12-20 students across various grade levels from elementary through high school. You'll provide direct instruction in language development, literacy skills, auditory training, and speech articulation while accommodating each student's unique communication needs—whether they use American Sign Language, spoken English with amplification, or total communication approaches.
Your Responsibilities Will Include:
Developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to DHH students' needs... Planning and delivering specialized instruction in reading, writing, language development, and auditory skill building... Providing direct services via video platforms with appropriate visual and auditory accommodations... Collaborating with speech-language pathologists, audiologists, and interpreters to coordinate comprehensive support... Monitoring student progress through ongoing assessment and adjusting instructional strategies accordingly... Communicating regularly with families about student development and home support strategies... Participating in IEP meetings and contributing expertise on deaf education and accessibility... Maintaining detailed documentation of services and student advancement.
Required Qualifications:
You must possess an active Michigan teaching license with DHH (Deaf and Hard of Hearing) endorsement, hold a Master's degree in Deaf Education or related field, and have completed at least 2 years of teaching experience in school settings. Proficiency in American Sign Language is essential, along with strong understanding of deaf culture and various communication modalities. Experience with virtual teaching platforms and educational technology enhances your candidacy.
