Core Teaching Duties
Your primary responsibility involves developing and executing individualized education programs specifically designed to meet the unique needs of students with hearing impairments. You'll design engaging virtual lessons that maximize visual learning opportunities while accommodating different communication modalities and hearing levels through creative use of technology.
Regular communication with students and families forms the foundation of your practice as you provide progress updates, share educational strategies, and collaborate on supporting student success. You'll conduct virtual meetings with parents, participate in IEP conferences, and work closely with audiologists and related service providers.
Continuous assessment and progress monitoring ensure students are advancing in both academic achievement and communication development. You'll collect and analyze student performance data using assessment tools appropriate for DHH students, adjust instructional approaches based on individual needs, and maintain accurate records compliant with special education requirements.
Educational Requirements
We require candidates to possess an active Nevada DHH teaching license along with a Master's degree in Deaf Education or related field from an accredited institution. Your background should include a minimum of two years of classroom teaching experience working specifically with students who have hearing impairments.
Proficiency in American Sign Language and knowledge of various communication approaches used with DHH students are essential. Experience with assistive hearing technologies, visual learning strategies, and understanding of deaf culture will contribute significantly to your success in this virtual environment.
Technology proficiency is important for success in remote DHH education, though comprehensive training on our specific platforms will be provided. You should demonstrate creativity and flexibility in adapting traditional DHH teaching methods for digital delivery while maintaining high educational standards and student engagement.
Supportive Work Environment
This fully remote position provides flexibility to teach from your home office while accessing extensive support systems and professional development opportunities specifically designed for DHH educators. You'll receive ongoing training in virtual instruction techniques and emerging assistive technologies.
Our collaborative team environment includes regular video conferences, peer support groups, and professional learning communities focused on DHH education excellence. Mentorship opportunities connect you with experienced virtual DHH educators who share successful strategies and provide ongoing guidance.
Comprehensive resources including specialized curriculum materials, visual learning tools, and assistive technology software support your instruction and help create engaging learning experiences for DHH students.
