DHH Teacher - Deaf and Hard of Hearing Educator - Las Vegas, Nevada
VocoVision recruits specialized educators for remote Deaf and Hard of Hearing teaching positions across Nevada. We're seeking certified DHH teachers who can provide high-quality instruction to students with hearing loss through virtual platforms.
What This Role Involves: You'll typically serve 35-45 students across elementary and secondary grades, working 35-37.5 hours per week. Instruction focuses on language development, literacy skills, self-advocacy, use of assistive technology, communication access, and academic content delivery with appropriate accommodations. You'll work with students using various communication modalities including spoken language with amplification, sign language, and simultaneous communication approaches.
Primary Responsibilities — Develop and implement IEPs addressing language, communication, and academic needs ? Provide direct instruction in literacy development for deaf/hard of hearing learners ? Teach communication strategies and self-advocacy skills ? Consult with general education teachers on accommodations and deaf education strategies ? Coordinate with audiologists and speech-language pathologists ? Support families in understanding their child's hearing loss and educational needs ? Monitor auditory technology function and troubleshoot basic issues ? Assess student progress using appropriate tools for deaf/hard of hearing populations ? Create accessible instructional materials ? Maintain detailed documentation of services and student growth
Required Qualifications — Active Nevada Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher licensure (mandatory) — Master's degree in Deaf Education or related field (required) — Minimum two years of experience teaching students with hearing loss in school settings (required) — Knowledge of language acquisition in deaf/hard of hearing children — Understanding of assistive listening technologies — Proficiency in sign language preferred but not required depending on student communication needs — Experience with virtual instruction platforms — Strong collaboration and communication skills — Reliable technology setup for remote teaching
