About the Role:
We are seeking a qualified and passionate Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) to join our educational team and support students with hearing loss in achieving their full academic and social-emotional potential. In this role, you’ll work closely with students, families, and school staff to provide individualized instruction and accommodations in a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
Details:
- Full Time: 35 hours/week
- ASAP - June 2026
- Caseload: Pre K - 22 students
Hourly pay: $35-40+ depending on experience
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction to students with hearing loss, tailored to their IEP goals
- Support students in both general education and special education settings
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, audiologists, interpreters, and other service providers
- Monitor student progress and maintain accurate documentation
- Consult with school staff on classroom accommodations, assistive technology, and hearing equipment (e.g., FM systems)
- Foster language development through a variety of communication methods (e.g., spoken English, ASL, cued speech, total communication—based on student needs)
Qualifications:
- Valid state certification as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in Pennsylvania
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Deaf Education or a related field
- Experience working with students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing in educational settings
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) preferred
- Strong collaboration and communication skills
- Knowledge of assistive listening devices and instructional strategies for students with hearing loss
