Position Overview:
The Teacher of the Deaf or Hard of Hearing is responsible for supporting district-wide deaf and hard of hearing programming within the CLIU. This role includes instructional planning, program development, collaboration with educational teams, and implementation of specialized services in special education and DHH classroom settings.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement individualized instructional plans for students who are deaf or hard of hearing
Support the design and maintenance of effective classroom environments that promote access and communication
Collaborate with special education teams, administrators, and related service providers across multiple districts
Provide consultative services and instructional support aligned with IEP goals
Participate in IEP meetings, evaluations, progress monitoring, and documentation
Support district-wide DHH programming in compliance with state and federal special education guidelines
Ensure instructional practices align with best practices for deaf and hard of hearing education
Required Credentials (Non-Negotiable):
Active PDE Certification in Special Education – Hearing Impaired
Proof of active licensure must be submitted at presentation
Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Education for the Deaf/Hard of Hearing or related field
Experience working in school-based special education settings preferred
Strong collaboration, communication, and documentation skills
Ability to pass all required state and district background clearances
