Deaf/Hard of Hearing Teacher Remote Instruction Lexington, Kentucky
Soliant is building a network of Deaf and Hard of Hearing teachers for virtual positions serving Kentucky students. We're looking for certified educators passionate about supporting students with hearing loss through innovative remote teaching models.
Position Overview These roles typically involve working with 45-55 students across various grades and hearing loss profiles, approximately 35-37.5 hours weekly. Your instruction addresses language development gaps, literacy achievement, communication access, self-advocacy skills, social-emotional learning, and academic content mastery. You'll serve students with diverse communication approaches and amplification technologies.
Your Responsibilities Will Include Writing and implementing comprehensive IEPs focused on unique needs of deaf/hard of hearing learners | Providing direct instruction in language arts with specialized strategies for hearing loss | Teaching students about their hearing loss, amplification devices, and self-advocacy | Consulting with general educators about accommodations and modifications | Coordinating with audiologists regarding hearing technology and function | Working with speech-language pathologists on communication goals | Supporting families with resources and strategies for home communication | Conducting assessments specific to deaf/hard of hearing populations | Creating and modifying materials for optimal visual and auditory access | Documenting services, progress, and compliance with special education requirements | Staying current with deaf education research and best practices
Qualifications Needed Must possess current Kentucky Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing license. Master's degree in Deaf Education or related special education field required. Minimum two years of classroom teaching experience with deaf/hard of hearing students in school settings mandatory. Solid understanding of auditory development, language acquisition in students with hearing loss, and impact of hearing loss on learning essential. Familiarity with hearing aids, cochlear implants, FM systems, and other assistive technology required. Sign language skills expected if serving signing students. Virtual teaching experience and comfort with online instructional platforms necessary. Reliable internet connection, adequate computer equipment, and appropriate workspace for remote teaching required.
