Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in Asheboro, NC
This opportunity offers a specialized role for a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing to support K-12 students across multiple schools. The position is a leave contract based in Asheboro, NC, with a start date of ASAP and ending June 10, 2026. The caseload includes 6 students spanning elementary, middle, and high school levels across five school locations (1 elementary, 1 middle, and 3 high schools). Specific school assignments will be provided at a later date.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide tailored educational instruction to Deaf and Hard of Hearing students in a K-12 setting.
- Collaborate with general education teachers and support staff to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs).
- Monitor student progress and adapt teaching methods to meet diverse learning needs.
- Utilize specialized communication strategies and assistive technologies.
- Participate in team meetings and engage with parents and caregivers to support student success.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Certified Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing or equivalent licensure.
- Experience working with Deaf/Hard of Hearing students across elementary, middle, and high school levels.
- Strong knowledge of communication methodologies and educational strategies for Deaf/Hard of Hearing learners.
- Ability to work across multiple school locations.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
Work Schedule and Location:
- Full-time, 5 days per week.
- Work will be conducted at five separate school sites within Asheboro, NC.
