Role Overview

Educational Focus Areas
Serve students across elementary, middle, and high school levels with varying degrees of hearing loss and communication preferences. Support development in language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies while addressing unique learning needs related to hearing loss and communication access.
Professional Responsibilities
- Design and implement specialized curriculum modifications and accommodations
- Provide direct instruction in academic content areas with communication accessibility
- Support language and literacy development through various communication modalities
- Coordinate with audiologists, speech-language pathologists, and interpreters
- Facilitate family engagement and communication strategy development
- Monitor student progress and adjust instructional approaches accordingly
- Ensure compliance with special education laws and regulations
Required Credentials
- Master's degree in Deaf and Hard of Hearing Education or related field
- Valid Kentucky DHH teaching license or endorsement
- Minimum 2 years of classroom experience with students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Proficiency in American Sign Language preferred
- Experience with hearing assistive technology and communication systems
- Strong virtual teaching and technology integration skills
