Teacher of the Deaf in Butte, MT

Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Valid certification in Deaf Education or related field
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and other communication modalities used by students with hearing loss
- Previous experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing, preferably in a school setting
- Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Strong interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with teachers, support staff, and families
- Knowledge of current assistive technology and auditory/oral methods
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver tailored instruction and interventions for students with hearing loss, using evidence-based strategies
- Assess students’ abilities and work with multidisciplinary teams to develop and monitor IEP goals
- Adapt and modify curriculum materials to suit individual learning needs and communication modes
- Consult with general education teachers on classroom accommodations and instructional best practices
- Provide direct teaching in academic, social, and self-advocacy skills
- Foster an inclusive, accessible classroom culture where all students can thrive
- Maintain thorough, ongoing documentation of student progress and communication with families
