About the Role
We’re seeking a dedicated Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) to provide specialized instruction and support to students with hearing loss. This role focuses on ensuring access to the general education curriculum while meeting each student’s unique communication and learning needs. You’ll work closely with families, educators, audiologists, interpreters, and related service providers to help students succeed academically and socially.

Position Details

Full-Time | 37.5 hrs/week

Prior school-based experience preferred
Key Responsibilities
-
Deliver direct and consultative services to students as outlined in their IEPs.

Assess students’ academic and communication needs using appropriate tools.

Create and implement individualized lesson plans aligned with communication methods (auditory-oral, ASL, total communication, etc.).

Support development of speech, language, auditory skills, reading, and academic achievement.

Collaborate with teachers and staff to adapt curriculum and learning environments.

Actively participate in IEP meetings, progress monitoring, and annual reviews.

Provide parent guidance to support advocacy and student growth.

Train school personnel on hearing loss, technology use, and inclusive practices.

Ensure hearing technology (hearing aids, FM/DM systems, cochlear implants) is functioning properly.

Travel between school sites when needed.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s in Deaf Education or Special Education (with DHH emphasis).

Valid DHH teaching credential (state-issued).

Knowledge of multiple communication modalities (ASL, oral, cued speech, etc.).

ASL proficiency preferred (or required depending on assignment).

Strong collaboration, organization, and communication skills.
-
Experience with diverse student populations is a plus.
