Washington State Certification Requirements:
To qualify, applicants must meet the following:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Deaf Education or Special Education
-
Valid Washington State teaching certificate with a Deaf Education endorsement (P–12) issued by the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI)

American Sign Language (ASL) proficiency strongly preferred
-
Successful fingerprinting and background check required by the school district
Responsibilities:

Provide individualized and small group instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing

Develop and implement IEPs based on students’ unique communication and academic needs
-
Collaborate with interpreters, general education staff, and families
-
Monitor student progress and maintain accurate documentation
-
Promote a supportive and culturally responsive learning environment
