What You’ll Do:
As a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, you will:
- Provide engaging and effective direct instruction to students with hearing impairments, ranging from early childhood (age 3) through high school (age 22).
- Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) and create specialized instructional materials tailored to diverse learning needs.
- Travel between school sites in the Montevideo, MN region, providing itinerant services to students in various educational settings.
- Manage a flexible caseload of students, adapting your approach to meet their unique communication and learning requirements.
- Collaborate effectively with general education teachers, support staff, parents, and administrators to ensure a cohesive and supportive educational experience for students.
- Address the specific needs of students requiring accommodations and modifications to the general curriculum.
- Primarily work with students who have identified disabilities and varying degrees of hearing loss.
What You Bring to the Table:
- Valid Minnesota Department of Education licensure in Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) or eligibility for licensure.
- A strong commitment to providing high-quality, in-person support and fostering the academic and social-emotional growth of students with hearing loss.
- Demonstrated expertise in creating and adapting accessible and engaging materials for students with visual and auditory learning differences.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills, essential for effectively managing an itinerant schedule and diverse caseload.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
- Familiarity with assistive technologies and strategies for supporting students with hearing impairments.
