Job Overview
Seeking a fluent ASL interpreter to facilitate communication for deaf or hard-of-hearing high school students across a range of educational environments—classroom lectures, group discussions, assemblies, counseling sessions, and more—using both ASL and voice interpretation at a natural conversational pace.
Key Responsibilities

Interpret spoken English to ASL and ASL to spoken English across diverse classroom and school contexts.

Support group discussions, assemblies, counseling sessions, and other academic/social interactions.

Serve as a language model, ensuring clear communication in both voice and sign.
These duties closely reflect responsibilities seen in educational interpreting roles in similar contexts.
Minimum Qualifications

Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL), including both receptive and expressive skills.

Certification by the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) or equivalent (e.g., NIC, NAD Levels, EIPA with a minimum score of 4.0).

At least one year of experience interpreting, preferably in educational settings.

Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Knowledge of Deaf culture and ethical standards outlined by RID’s Code of Professional Conduct.
