Teacher of the Deaf
A school district in Coal Center, Pennsylvania, is seeking a dedicated and qualified Teacher of the Deaf to provide specialized instruction and support for students who are deaf or hard of hearing. The ideal candidate will bring a student-centered approach and a commitment to inclusive education that meets each learner’s communication and academic needs.
Key Responsibilities:

Provide direct instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing in various settings (inclusive, resource, or self-contained)

Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in collaboration with families and school teams
-
Adapt curriculum materials to support auditory, visual, and/or tactile learning
-
Collaborate with general education teachers, audiologists, interpreters, and other specialists
-
Support language development through sign language, spoken language, or total communication, as appropriate
Qualifications:
-
PA Department of Education certification in Deaf and Hard of Hearing

Experience with American Sign Language (ASL), Cued Speech, or other communication modalities
-
Strong understanding of differentiated instruction and assistive technology
-
Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams
Preferred:
-
Experience working with school-age children in a K–12 setting

Familiarity with both oral and signing communication methods
