An opportunity is available for a dedicated Teacher specializing in Deaf and Hard of Hearing education to support K-12 students during a leave contract in Chicago, IL. Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver individualized and group instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing using appropriate teaching strategies and resources.
  • Develop and implement personalized education plans aligned with state standards and student needs.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including speech therapists and audiologists, to support student communication and learning goals.
  • Monitor student progress and adjust instructional approaches as necessary.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and caregivers regarding student development and progress.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation in compliance with district and legal requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Certification or licensure in teaching Deaf and Hard of Hearing students.
  • Experience working within a K-12 educational setting.
  • Strong knowledge of communication methods such as American Sign Language (ASL) and/or auditory-oral techniques.
  • Ability to create adaptive learning materials and use assistive technology.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Flexibility and resilience to support students during transitional periods.
