Compensation: $44–$49 per hour (based on experience)
Position Overview:
We are seeking a qualified and passionate Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) to serve students in K–12 for the 2025–2026 school year in New Orleans, LA. This school-based position involves supporting students with hearing impairments to access the general education curriculum and reach their full potential in an inclusive educational setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support to students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Adapt curriculum and instructional methods to meet individual student needs
- Collaborate with general education teachers, speech-language pathologists, audiologists, and other support staff
- Assist in the development and implementation of IEPs
- Monitor and document student progress toward IEP goals
- Provide consultation and training to staff and families on effective strategies and accommodations
- Utilize assistive technology and amplification devices as needed
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Deaf Education or a related field
- Valid Louisiana teaching certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing or eligibility to obtain
- Knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL) and/or other communication methods used by students with hearing loss
- Experience working in a school setting preferred
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
- Full-time or part-time opportunities available
- 2025–2026 school year
- Hourly pay: $44–$49 based on experience
