About the Role
As a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing in New Orleans, LA, you will:

Provide specialized instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing in K–12 settings
-
Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to student needs
-
Adapt curriculum and teaching strategies to ensure accessibility
-
Collaborate with general education teachers, speech-language pathologists, and families
-
Facilitate communication access and promote inclusive classroom practices
-
Monitor student progress and maintain compliance with district and state requirements
Qualifications
-
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Deaf Education or related field
-
Active or pending Louisiana DHH teaching certification
-
Strong understanding of language acquisition and educational strategies for DHH students
-
Proficiency in ASL and familiarity with hearing technologies (e.g., FM systems, cochlear implants)
-
Previous school-based experience preferred
-
Open to both local candidates and travel educators from neighboring states
