DHH Teacher | Chesapeake, Virginia
This opportunity offers a full-time position working closely with elementary students in Kindergarten through 5th grade who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing. The role involves providing specialized instruction and support to a small caseload of 8 students within a district center setting. This contract position runs from December 1, 2025, through June 16, 2026, with on-site work required—remote or hybrid schedules are not available.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver tailored educational services to Deaf and Hard of Hearing students in grades K-5
- Collaborate with school staff and families to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Utilize current teaching strategies and resources to support language development and academic progress
- Monitor student progress and maintain detailed records in compliance with educational standards
- Participate in team meetings and professional development opportunities as needed
Qualifications:
- Active Virginia Department of Education teaching certification in Deaf / Hard of Hearing or related provisional certification
- Experience serving elementary-aged students within a specialized educational setting preferred
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with students, families, and school personnel
- Knowledge of assistive technologies and strategies applicable to Deaf / Hard of Hearing learners
- Commitment to on-site full-time work during the contract period
