A K-12 school in San Francisco, CA is seeking a skilled Teacher specializing in Deaf and Hard of Hearing education for the upcoming school year contract. This role is ideal for an educator dedicated to supporting students with hearing impairments through tailored instructional strategies and fostering an inclusive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing.
- Deliver specialized instruction using appropriate communication methods such as sign language, lip reading, or assistive technologies.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, speech therapists, and audiologists to support student progress.
- Monitor and document student development, adjusting teaching strategies as needed.
- Communicate with families to discuss student goals and progress.
- Maintain a positive, engaging, and supportive classroom atmosphere.
Qualifications:
- Certification or licensure in teaching Deaf and Hard of Hearing students.
- Experience working with K-12 students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing.
- Knowledge of educational technology and methods designed for students with hearing impairments.
- Strong communication skills, including proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) preferred.
- Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
