Position Overview:
Our partner district in Panama City, FL is seeking a dedicated and experienced Hearing Impaired Teacher to support students. This is a full-time, itinerant position serving students with hearing impairments. The teacher will play a critical role in helping students access instruction and communicate effectively in the classroom environment.Details:
- Full Time: 35 hours/week
- August 2025 - May 2026
- Caseload: K-12th grade students
Hourly pay: $35-37+ depending on experience
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction to students with hearing loss, tailored to their IEP goals
- Support students in both general education and special education settings
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, audiologists, interpreters, and other service providers
- Monitor student progress and maintain accurate documentation
- Consult with school staff on classroom accommodations, assistive technology, and hearing equipment (e.g., FM systems)
- Foster language development through a variety of communication methods (e.g., spoken English, ASL, cued speech, total communication—based on student needs)
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Deaf Education, Special Education, or a related field
- Valid Florida Department of Education Licensure as a DHHT
- Experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing, preferably in an itinerant or school-based setting
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) preferred but not required
