Our dynamic remote education platform is seeking a passionate Deaf and Hard of Hearing teacher to deliver exceptional educational services to students throughout Nevada's school districts. Program Overview

Teaching Schedule: 35-37 hours per week with flexible planning periods Student Range: Preschool through high school learners with hearing differences Service Model: 18-38 students receiving individualized and group instruction Communication Methods: Multi-modal approach supporting diverse communication preferences Educational Focus: Academic achievement, language acquisition, social-emotional development, and post-secondary preparation

Core Teaching Functions

Lead comprehensive educational programming that addresses the multifaceted needs of deaf and hard of hearing students in virtual environments. You'll design culturally responsive lessons that honor deaf identity while building academic competencies across core subjects. Responsibilities include conducting language assessments, developing communication-rich learning experiences, and providing targeted intervention for students struggling with grade-level content. Strong emphasis on fostering deaf community connections and cultural pride through curriculum integration and peer interaction opportunities.

Mandatory Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Deaf Education, Special Education with DHH concentration, or equivalent specialized preparation
  • Valid Nevada DHH teaching endorsement with active certification status
  • Minimum 2 years of direct classroom experience serving deaf and hard of hearing student populations
  • Native or near-native American Sign Language fluency with demonstrated cultural competence
  • Comprehensive understanding of deaf pedagogy including visual learning strategies
  • Experience supporting students with cochlear implants, hearing aids, and other assistive listening devices
  • Proven track record of successful virtual instruction and remote student engagement

Specialized Skills and Knowledge

This role demands expertise in deaf-centric educational approaches, including bilingual-bicultural methodologies and visual communication strategies. Candidates should demonstrate proficiency in adapting traditional curricula for visual learners and creating inclusive virtual classroom environments that support diverse communication modalities. Understanding of audiological reports, IEP development for hearing-related goals, and collaboration with deaf community resources enhances candidacy.

Virtual Platform Requirements

Success in this remote position requires mastery of video-based teaching platforms optimized for sign language instruction and visual communication.
