Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing - Easton, PA
Position Overview:
This opportunity is for experienced Teachers of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing to support summer educational programs within Bucks County, PA. These contract roles focus on delivering specialized instruction and related services to students with hearing impairments, ensuring their academic and social success in both center-based and itinerant settings. The positions are primarily located in Doylestown, with some assignments in surrounding areas, providing flexibility within the Bucks County Intermediate Unit 22 region.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction tailored to the needs of deaf and hard of hearing students during Extended School Year (ESY) sessions
- Provide support in classroom and itinerant settings, working closely with students, families, and educational teams
- Monitor and document student progress, adapting teaching strategies to individual needs
- Collaborate with other educators and support staff to create inclusive learning environments
- Participate in orientation and training sessions prior to ESY instruction
Qualifications & Experience:
- Active Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) certification as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing
- Experience working with students exhibiting moderate to severe needs and behaviors in educational settings
- Strong understanding of specialized instructional strategies for deaf and hard of hearing students
- Reliable transportation with residence located within 35 minutes of the assigned school site
- Ability to commit fully to the ESY schedule from June 29 to July 30, 2026
- Willingness to work varying weekly hours (12-24), Monday through Thursday, with student instruction typically from 9:00 am to 2:30 pm
Location:
Positions are based in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, with primary office in Doylestown and service sites across Lower and Central Bucks areas. Placement will be as close as possible to the candidate's residence, subject to student needs and site requirements.
